Terms of use

1. The service

Circuit Notebook is a web app to draw circuit diagrams, sketches and flowcharts, and to present or export them. It is published by Tom Rousseau as a private individual (see the legal notice). It can be used without an account: the drawings then stay in your browser. An account adds projects kept online, sharing and working together.

2. Your account

Give a real e-mail address that you can read: it is used to check your account, to reset your password and to share projects. Keep your password to yourself; what is done with your account is your responsibility. One account per person. If you think someone else uses your account, change your password and write to [email protected].

If you are under 15, ask a parent before creating an account.

3. Your drawings

Everything you draw belongs to you: you may use, publish and sell it freely, with no credit needed. By putting a project online, you only allow Circuit Notebook to store it, copy it (backups) and show it to you and to the people you share it with, for as long as it is online. Nothing else is done with it: it is not published, sold, or used to train anything.

You are responsible for what you put in your projects: only use images and content you have the right to use.

4. What is not allowed

• storing or sharing illegal content, or content that infringes someone's rights;
• harassing people through sharing, comments or the contact form;
• trying to reach data that isn't yours, to get around the limits of the beta, or to overload or attack the service (including with automated requests);
• using the site to send spam or advertising.

If these rules are broken, content can be removed and the account suspended or deleted, after a warning by e-mail when possible. To report content, write to [email protected].

5. The beta and its limits

During the beta, accounts have limits (number of projects, size of a project, number of saved versions), shown in the app. They may change. The service is given as it is, with no guarantee that it will always be available or free of bugs. The database is backed up every night, but keep your own copy of important work: a project can be exported at any time as a file that the app opens again.

Circuit Notebook is free today. If paid options come one day, they will be optional and announced in advance; what is free when you create your account will not become paid without notice.

6. Sharing and working together

When you share a project, the people you choose can see it, comment on it or edit it, as you decide. The owner of a project can change or remove these rights at any time. Deleting a project deletes it for everyone it was shared with.

7. Responsibility

Circuit Notebook is a drawing tool: it does not simulate or check circuits. You stay responsible for the designs you draw and for what you build from them. I do my best to keep the service running and your data safe, but I cannot be held responsible for a loss of data, an interruption or indirect damage, as far as the law allows.

8. Leaving

You can delete your account yourself at any time (menu of your name → Delete my account): your projects online are deleted with it. What happens to your data is explained in the privacy policy. The service may also close one day; you would then be warned at least 30 days before, to export your projects.

9. Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes too. Important changes will be announced on the homepage, or by e-mail to account holders. Using the site after that means accepting the new terms.

10. Law

These terms are governed by French law. In case of disagreement, please write first to [email protected] to find a solution together; otherwise the French courts are competent.
